DELUSIONS OF DESTINY
GUILD PHILOSOPHY
Revision 1.0 (August 9, 2007)
Friendship, Companionship, and Fun
Delusions of Destiny is all about playing together and exploring the game as friends. We're here to play this game and enjoy it! We created this guild so we could play with people of like minds and get to experience this game as fully as possible. Our focus is on the companionship and the experience of playing with friends and family; the gear, the rank, etc is all secondary to that.
In general, we are not hardcore gamers or raiders, but rather casual gamers that happen to play a lot. That doesn’t mean that some of us haven’t been hardcore in the past. It is our experience, however, that raiding every night or revolving ones entire life around the game causes burnout – and makes the game a detriment to ones life rather than an enhancement.
We fool around a lot and do random things for fun – the key word being “fun”. In addition to our more serious activities like leveling, instances, and getting keyed/rep, we also enjoy exploring and finding new and fun things to do in the game, and just being silly at times.
A Circle of Friends
When someone joins our guild, we bring them into our circle of friends. Many of us know each other personally in real life, or are part of the same family. We expect the members of the guild to treat each other like friends and family, and this is reflected in our rules. Basically, treat each other with respect and generosity. Sometimes we bicker, have bad days, and sometimes personalities clash. This is normal, and just as with friends or family in real life, we expect to weather it out.
Getting to the End Game
The experience of WoW and the art of winning should be fun, challenging, and enjoyable. For these reasons, we want to get to the end by doing it ourselves. We may not be the first guild to reach the end game content – but we are proud of all our accomplishments, and want it to stay that way. We appreciate advice and a little help once in a while, but we want to overcome obstacles on our own terms. We don't ask high level PUGs to run us through instances regularly because we don't want to be run through. We want to progress by ourselves, with our team, as a guild. We will never merge into another, bigger guild because that would be riding on the coat tails of someone else's accomplishment. We don't want to win because someone else did it for us. We're happy to partner with outsiders to work together for something because we don't always have the numbers or classes to do it on our own. In fact, we have many friends from larger guilds that often help us; we do our best to help them as well.
What We're Looking For
We want people who feel the same way we do about the game. We would much rather run end game material, BG's, or world PVP with a group of our friends than with a bunch of geared 70's we don't know. If you haven't noticed a theme, here it is. We’d like the entire guild to level together as a whole and to reach 70 before the next expansion release. We just want to play and have fun. We think that building a strong group of friends to run instances and overcome the challenges built into the game with is more important that the actual material itself. We have fun and joke around a lot in guild chat and in vent. We waste time and do silly things. We are people who don't think they have to be in instances or BG's every minute while in the game. We want people willing to have fun and relax with us. We want people willing to take the time to build a community. Generosity, respect, and loyalty are very important to us.
Expectations
Our expectations are simple and straightforward.
Guild mates are expected to attend guild events when they can. If a guild event is taking place, and they do not come, they need to have an explanation. This also includes out of game participation on the forums. Give us advice and show us what you find. Tell us your stories.Participation:
Guild mates are expected to help other guild mates when they can. If someone is getting camped, go kill the poopyheads who are camping them (if you can)! Of course, you can't always help, but you need to think about if you're available. Anyway, world PVP is a blast, and an impromptu raid is never out of the realm of possibility.Generosity:
We also expect loyalty of our guild members. We expect you to go with a guild grouping over a pick up group. There are certain instances, which require a very specific mix of classes, and we understand if you can't always include a guild mate. But, on the whole, we are an inclusive guild that expects you to look to your teammates before looking outside.Loyalty:
This is a big one. The guild was founded by a group of fun people with a warped sense of humor, and every so often, we'll rant on about off the wall things. You don't have to understand our humor, but you do have to respect the idea that we are trying to have fun.Tolerance of Humor:
